Understanding RumbleSeat Roles & Permissions
Posted on Oct 08, 2025
A complete guide for club owners, admins, and members
Running a successful car club on RumbleSeat means collaboration — and that starts with clearly defined roles. Whether you’re setting up your club for the first time or expanding your leadership team, RumbleSeat’s role-based permissions ensure that every member has the right level of access and responsibility.
Below is a breakdown of each role and how they contribute to your club’s operations, organization, and continuity.
Owner & Co-Owner
Every club begins with an Owner — the original creator of the club site. This account serves as the anchor record in RumbleSeat’s system, both legally and technically. The Owner has complete control over every aspect of the club, including settings, members, finances, website management, and data.
Owners can also designate one or more Co-Owners, who share the same permissions and responsibilities. Co-Owners exist to ensure continuity and stability, stepping in if the Owner becomes inactive, steps away, or passes away.
Key points:
-
Full control over all club functions and data.
-
Co-Owners are appointed by the Owner.
-
Multiple Co-Owners can be added.
-
Co-Owners cannot delete the original Owner but otherwise function identically.
Succession (Instead of Transfer)
Rather than transferring ownership, RumbleSeat uses a succession model. The Owner appoints Co-Owners to safeguard the club’s continuity. If the Owner becomes inactive, Co-Owners retain full operational control.
In rare cases — such as disputes or lost access — RumbleSeat Support may verify and assist in restoring access with confirmation from club leadership.
Administrator
Administrators are trusted leaders who have full management access to the club but cannot delete or transfer ownership.
They handle day-to-day operations like member management, content moderation, event setup, and financial settings. Administrators ensure that the club runs smoothly while supporting both the Owner and Co-Owners.
Typical responsibilities include:
-
Approving, editing, or suspending members.
-
Managing forums, events, and registries.
-
Configuring membership dues and payment integrations.
-
Overseeing club-wide settings and customizations.
Site Manager
The Site Manager focuses exclusively on the club’s website. This role is ideal for a webmaster or content editor who needs to update pages and navigation without access to sensitive data or finances.
Permissions include:
-
Editing the homepage and custom pages.
-
Managing navigation and optional website features like the gallery or library.
-
No access to member data, finances, or internal club tools.
Moderator
The Moderator role is designed for community oversight within the forums. Moderators can edit or remove posts but do not have administrative control over members or broader club operations.
They play a key part in maintaining a respectful, engaging club environment.
Organizer
Organizers handle events — the heartbeat of many car clubs. They can create, edit, and manage both free and paid events while tracking registrations.
Access includes:
-
Full event management tools.
-
Ability to view and export event data.
-
No access to finances beyond event registrations.
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees financial operations, typically via Stripe integration. While the role is primarily managed outside of RumbleSeat, Treasurers can be granted access to payment reports and membership billing data as these features expand.
Responsibilities include:
-
Configuring dues and billing cycles.
-
Reviewing payment history and transaction reports.
-
No control over club content or member management.
Messenger
For clubs that prioritize communication and engagement, the Messenger role allows specific members to send out official Club RumblePosts or group messages.
It’s ideal for someone handling announcements, newsletters, or general club communications without requiring full administrative permissions.
Member
Finally, every participant in a club begins as a Member. This standard role provides access to all the community features that make RumbleSeat clubs thrive.
Members can:
-
Register for events.
-
Participate in forums.
-
Add cars to the club registry.
-
Contribute photos (if enabled).
Members do not have access to administrative tools or sensitive club data.
Building Trust Through Clear Roles
By defining permissions and responsibilities clearly, RumbleSeat helps clubs operate with structure and transparency. Owners can delegate tasks confidently, administrators can manage efficiently, and members can engage freely — all within a secure and organized ecosystem.
Whether you’re launching a new club or refining your leadership structure, understanding these roles ensures your community runs smoothly and grows sustainably.
