Create an auction listing

An auction is a timed listing where buyers place bids and the highest bid wins when the timer ends. Use it when competition will drive the price — desirable or rare vehicles.

Steps

  1. Go to Marketplace → + Create listing and choose Auction Listing.
  2. Pick the source (new item, from Garage, or external link) — same as classifieds.
  3. In Step 1, set a Starting Bid Amount and an Auction Duration, and choose whether to set a Reserve.
  4. Complete Step 2 (condition, colors, VIN, odometer, transmission, photos) and click Done.

Definition: reserve vs. no-reserve

A reserve is a hidden minimum price — the car only sells if bidding meets or exceeds it (otherwise the listing shows Reserve not met). No-reserve means it sells to the highest bidder no matter what, which often attracts more bidders.

Tips & tricks

  • No-reserve auctions tend to draw more early bids and momentum; a reserve protects you from selling too low but can cool bidding.
  • Set the duration so it ends in the evening when more buyers are online.
